What happens when you give a Corporate Marketer responsibility for a grass roots community sports club? Sometimes nothing, often not much and just occasionally, you get a club that wants its brand on everything !!!
When I took on the role of Club Communications Officer for Tring Tornadoes Junior Sports Club, the first thing that needed sorting out was the club brand – yes they had a badge / logo, but, there was nothing in place to enable considered use of the brand over time and across sporting activities.
Once we had the brand guidelines in place, we could set about how it was positioned within each of the clubs sports and club-wide.
It’s pretty easy to put a badge / logo on match kit, training wear, coaching attire and the full range of merchandising items, so we did all that.
The one place though, that, until now, was “impossible” to crack, properly at the right quality and price point, was the training balls.
We finally figured it out this year and, fortunately, just in time for Tornadoes 50th Anniversary season.
For those that know me well, when I set about doing something, I always aim to do it properly. So, having figured out all the club branding for Tornadoes and, knowing just how much effort is involved to do it properly and, having had enough people tell me to package up this skill set and sell it, I did just that.
